Week 7: Updating, Repeating, Money

Friday, February 15th, 2008 | Website Creation with 2 Comments

Welcome to Week 7 of 7 Weeks to Success! It’s your last week, and by now you probably have a pretty good looking site! It should be filled up with some content, Google Adsense, have a good number of backlinks, and maybe you’ve even been receiving your first few clicks!

There isn’t much to say this week. Just stick by your site, and continue to update it. One of the biggest problems I see with people is that they will eventually give up if they don’t see instant results. Truth be told, you may not “hit it big” with the first site you create. Maybe it will take your third or fourth site. However, never give up on a site (unless you are selling it for a good amount of money) just because you’re not getting instant results.

Remember, the more sites you have, the more likely you are to make more money. If you have one site making $5.00/day, then imagine what you’d be making if you kept the other sites you may have gave up on. Maybe not as much as $5.00/day, but it all adds up.

Now that you have a pretty good idea of how to create a successful, money-making website, all that’s left to do is repeat! Get a good network of blogs going, and once you are making some good money, you can outsource a large majority of your work to ghostwriters and all your work is cut out for you!

If you have any questions about ANY week, or you’d like to get more information on a certain topic, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I will go above and beyond to answer your question and help you with whatever you need.

Week 6: Building an Opt-in Mailing List

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 | Website Creation with 5 Comments

Welcome to Week 6 of 7 Weeks to Success. I’ve been sick with the stomach flu lately, so I apologize for the late update. This week, I will be talking about one of the majority webmasters and online marketers biggest regret; building an opt-in list.

What is an opt-in list? In general terms, an opt-in list Just think about it - someone visits your site and leaves. One lost visitor with not much of a gain. Now imagine if you someone visits your site, reads some content, and decides to opt-in to your mailing list. Although it may look like you didn’t make any money, you’ve made a subscriber which can potentially generate you money.

So how do you start an opt-in mailing list? Unfortunately, it’s going to cost a little bit of a monthly cost, but overtime it will pay itself off from all the money you will make from it. Plus, you can try it out free for 30 days. The service I’m talking about is Aweber. They are a very professional mailing list company and really do care about their customers.

So let’s start on your opt-in mailing list. Go ahead and click here to try Aweber free for 30 days. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to login. It’s very easy and pretty self explanatory on how to set up your list. If you do happen to run into any problems, you can use the Live Help feature to chat with someone from Aweber.

When you set up your list, you should be given a code for how to implement it into your blog. Go ahead and apply that to your sidebar and in the footer of all posts (this can be done by modifying the single.php). Before you know it, you’ll start gaining subscribers. Once you have a good amount, you can start sending out “broadcasts” filled with valuable information, and periodically send out an email about an affiliate product you can find off Clickbank that’s related to your niche. If you’re a member of NeverBlueAds, they even have some email creatives that are ready for you to use.

Remember, if you ever need help with Aweber, use their live support feature to your advantage!

Week 5: Targeted Traffic and Article Submissions

Saturday, January 26th, 2008 | Website Creation with 7 Comments

Welcome to Week 5 of 7 Weeks to Success. By week 5, you should have a working blog and submitted your blog to a lot of web directories. Hopefully most of those directory owners have accepted your links and has generated you hundreds of rich anchor text pointing to your site. Search engines should now be picking up your site now as well, if they haven’t yet.

As I said in past weeks, web directories is great for incoming links to your site, but they rarely get clicks. It’s important that your link is submitted to web directories because your Google PageRank will rise (important) and search engines will raise your search engine rankings (which means more traffic). So how do you get traffic? I’ll explain some methods I use below.

First off, you need to put your link anywhere you can. This includes signatures in forums, signatures in emails, in your AIM away messages, anywhere you can get it. Believe it or not, that alone will bring you in some traffic.

You may also want to try blog comments. If you can put comments on blogs that are related to your niche with a link back to your site, you’ll be amazed at the amount of traffic you can receive. You can even use a keyword as your “Name” to get some extra anchor text pointing to your site.

I recommend you only comment on blogs that have the DoFollow plugin activated. When you comment on blogs with DoFollow, they will help your blog gain PageRank, which is very important to a successful blog. If you’d like to find some DoFollow blogs, here are some “DoFollow search engines”. Simply search your niche and comment on those blogs:

Another great source of traffic can come from forums. When you join a forum, you have a chance to have a forum signature. Just put your link in your signature (using anchor text of course). You may even be able to link to more then one section of your site. A lot of forums have a 300 character signature limit. That means you can have up to 300 numbers, letters, and code in your signature.
