Many people are joining up on this Agloco program; a pyramid scheme owned by the same team members who owned AllAdvantage (which crashed and burned in early 2001). The program works by downloading a small toolbar which will be located right above your Start bar. It will then “keep track” of your information and display advertisements (which they try to call “valuable messages”), along with other tools from software companies (another way Agloco will get money). You will get paid an hourly rate for the hours you spend online.

Agloco exploded onto the internet just late last year and since then has been hitting forums, websites, and blogs ever since trying to refer people while the members waited for the “Viewbar” (which has been released since June 6th). One of the well-known bloggers, John Chow, has already earned 19,000 sign-ups.

Now here is why people are thinking this is a scam:

1) Not as simple as people think
Most people think Agloco is simple when it comes to getting their money. It’s nowhere near that. Agloco has to jump throw a number of hoops just to get your payment (which will be less then what you think it is). Here is a graphic that should help you:

Agloco

Not very easy is it?

2) Five hours!
On top of the wonderful hoops they have to jump through to pay you, they will only allow five measly hours of counted surfing time per month. That will give you barely any money at all.

3) “We reserve the right” mumbo jumbo.
Yes, I said “mumbo jumbo”. Agloco “reserves the right to change these rates at any time for any country” (referring to the money you get from surfing). They also:

  • Reserve the right to notify registered users of substantive changes made to this Terms of Use, however we cannot guarantee that you will be notified of such changes, therefore it is your responsibility to be aware of your rights and responsibilities prior to your usage of this site.
  • Reserve the right to terminate your registration immediately.

4) Convert hours to cash? Not nearly.
Agloco will convert your hours online to cash, right? No, they will convert them to shares. Unfortunately, Agloco is a private company which means according to the SEC regulations, they are not allowed to distribute unregistered shares to the public.

5) Agloco is 100% owned by it’s members.
Agloco claims “The company is 100% owned by the Members”. This is not true. Agloco, being a private company, is owned by very few people.

6) Shares is currency.
Remember stated before, your hours spent surfing online is not cash - it’s shares. Which means Agloco will have to sell an extremely large amount of shares in order to continue to pay it’s growing users.

7) Look! A mention of cash payment!
Finally, Agloco makes a single mention of cash payment, but on a few conditions (of course).

“As Agloco grows and the company generates positive cash flow, we will be distributing the excess cash to Members and shareholders of the company.”

Here are a few questions for Agloco. When will they start to “generate positive cash flow”? By the time you get this “positive cash flow” hackers probably will have came up with ways to use “bots” to mimic the surfing. Or maybe they’ll get in trouble by the SEC for promising unregistered securities in return for being a member of Agloco.

Now I am not saying Agloco is a scam, it probably won’t be. BUT Agloco is made out to sound like something a lot simpler then what it really is. In order to fully understand how Agloco works, you would have to have some knowledge of finances, shares, and so on (which most people who are dealing with that already have a large salary).

I guess we’ll all see who is disappointed when they make out their first payments to their users. I’m guessing it will be a lot less then what people think.

Yeah, everywhere I go there are people talking about this website.

I signed up for it, but that’s about it. I’m highly doubting how profitable it will be. I’m sure THEY will make a lot of money, and maybe the people (like John) who have thousands of referrals.

But for the ‘average’ user, I don’t think Agloco is going to be much of a money maker.

I’m not really sure either, we’ll about that first because it’s too early now to make decision. And the view bar is still fresh release, so we better wait until the payment time first. After that we can evaluate them.

    Best Regards
    :)

    Hello!
I was wondering if you want to make a review exchange. This will grow up our traffic, so it is good for both of us. I have to say that my blog it is not very old, so I will agree to write 2 or 3 review about your site, and put you on my blogroll, in change of just 1 review from you.
If you agree this partnership, just let me know. Contact me at that email address or on the blog.

    Thank you!

Agloco sounds like a true scam to me. The whole “we’ll pay you once (IF) we become profitable” is all you need to know right there. I’ll eat my hair if anyone actually gets paid from them… (Maybe someone like John Chow, but the average user? No way)

I cannot even BEGIN to explain how many emails I’ve gotten from people on my own site regarding this scam. I have also been asked to advertise it, which I refuse to do.

Vijay, if it’s not a scam, then please explain how.

Has anyone been paid from them? No.

Are they legally required to pay people who obtain shares in the future? No.

Scams like this are becoming a huge problem for people who want to earn money online. They hurt the credibility of the legitimate GPT / PtC sites

I joined, I’ve built a small downline (about 50 or so). Whilst I’m building “hours surfed” I haven’t actually made any money directly from it yet. I guess I’ll wait and see how it pans out. At least I didn’t spend any money promoting it, so if it fails I wont have lost anything.

The cash they’re going to distribute in fact come from advertisers paying to put ads in their viewbar. As for ownership or shares, i think it’d be much better to let the real investment bankers to comment on its feasibility.

The founders and contributors of Agloco are those internet celebrities such as Jim Jorgensen, Gil Penchina, CEO of Wikia, Zaw Thet, CEO of 4info and Valerie Williamson a VP the Open Source group OSTG. I think these ppl would not risk their reputations to cheat billions of ppl out there!

I think we need to be open-minded in assessing Agloco’s viability, although some of u may like to compare it with her predecessor, Alladvantage, which had proved to be a short-lived company.

I’ve recently found on the internet a blog entry, the author of which has done an extensive study on the internet ad market and Agloco. Although it may not be among the best analysis on Agloco, at least she has made a sincere and insightful attempt to approach this topic at a Macro-level. I think it worths reading. Here is the link:
