That is a great question that I receive mass amount of emails about. Here are some simple guidelines to follow to successfully advertising your GPT site.

1) Is your site ready to be launched?

This is a very important step. You have to make sure you have a fully functional site with appropriate content on it. Don’t rush a site, that’d be your biggest mistake. Take your time, and release it when you think you are ready.

2) Write a few unique articles to submit to article directories.

This is very useful advice that will get you lots of traffic if you write an article that is well-written and informative. When writing your article(s), always try to squeeze in one or two hyper-linked text to your website. Once you have a few unique articles about a subject of your site (for example, I could do an article on the GPT industry), you can start to submit your article to sites like EzineArticles (see my article here) and GoArticles. To see a complete list of high pr (page rank) level article directories, just click here.

3) Find forums through Google Searches.

Surprisingly, forums are a great method of getting people to join your site if you post proof of payment. With no proof of payment, you most likely just get “scammer” posts and most likely find your thread locked/deleted/you banned. So always post a picture of a check or Paypal payment of one of your users after censoring their personal information, and of course getting their permission. To find forums, just do some Google searches on “make money online forums“, “gpt forums” and so on.

4) Submit your site to web directories!

Web directories is a great way to raise page rank along with the number of backlinks to your site. Since Google PR is decided by incoming traffic (simple explanation), you should soon receive a page rank boost. This page rank will help your site be soon higher in the results if you were to search “gpt sites” (or whatever key phrases you are using). I am currently ranked sixth when searching for “gpt sites“. Once a Google page rank update occurs, I will be moving up higher since I have been submitting to a long list of directories. You can find a long list of free and paid directories here and here.

5) Put your link and a description in the bottom of emails!

Many email providers will give you an option to have a signature in the bottom of every email you send so you don’t have to type anything out. If your email provider has this, just add your link to your GPT site along with a little description below. It drives traffic!

6) Make a Myspace!

Myspace is a great way to keep track of your members and to even reach new members. You can add yourself to myspace trains which will get random people to send you friend requests. You will be able to send out comments and bulletins talking about your GPT site. Again, be sure to provide proof of payment. Another dirty trick to generate more friend requests is to add a picture of a pretty women in a bikini (nude is against Myspace’s TOS). People will add you because of this, trust me.

7) Flyers, pencils, be creative!

Remember that all advertising doesn’t have to be done just online. You can also make flyers, pencils, anything else you can think of! Be creative! I do not recommend shirts though, since it would be pretty costly. The owner of RaidTheBank sent me a box of postcards (I volunteered) that I have posted on mailboxes and placed on cars. She also stuck a promo code on there to get your first $2.00 for free. I still have more to pass out, but I am sure it has generated users for her!

If you would still like more info, you can visit “The Ultimate Guide to Building a Downline” (some content may be repeated). It will talk about how you can successfully advertise your referral link to build a downline, but you of course won’t be using a referral link.

Awesome! I forgot to mention that I also offer sponsored posts for just $10/month. It is a great way to promote any website you have, GPT or not.

I personally am creating a GPT site myself. But with all the sudden inflows of the low-quality sites…it’s hard to become recognized. One has to be truly unique to get any recognition and quality traffic.

Great post - wish it had been around before I started LoveMyCash.com in April! :)

Seriously, it’s a LOT of work & I was expecting to work tons of hours on it. I wish I’d spent more time getting to know the ShiftCode package I subscribed to because it’s not the most user-friendly. But I’m having fun as I learn & our members are enjoying the site too!

    Best,
    Kathryn, mrsLMC

Yeah, when I start my own GPT site when I am bit older, I am definitely not going to use Shiftcode. There are other packages out there that will do the same thing that give you much more freedom with what you want to do :) .

You no when you become disabled your whole world changes. I went from a income of around $10,000 a month to $1270.00 a month. That was damn near devastating by itself. I had open heart surgery left both of my arms numb and severely ice cold. Well I had to try and supplement my income. Now it”s Ebays turn, no it was a big disaster. Then come Google Adwords, what a cut throat business that was. So in a time of need I have set my sites on a GPT survey site. It’s not as cut throat as adwords , but it is there. Let me get to it, I have started a site called SurfingForFunds.Com. I have over 700 offers on there now and plan on more, these consist of Email and Zipcode submits, trial offers, forums, surveys. Just about anything you can think of. It’s a lot of work getting started, I had help from my daughter Reagan, who also operates a site { GptCashCow.Com } . Anyway I guess I’m hoping this blog will help to pass the word about my site {SurfingForFunds.Com }.Never had a blog so I will see if it helps. Please pass the word about my site too anyone interested.

I have a gpt site too - a paid to signup one and indeed it is not easy to promote it nowadays. Luckily I have the advance to sell signups as well so it only took some spending to get word around. Even more difficult is to keep it interesting. http://www.ptsignup.com
